I have learned two very valuable lessons this first semester of my Junior year. First being that I used an incredibly broken, and chaotic organization system for 98% of the first semester. Miraculously it did not completely fail me, but I did pay for my unorganization and had some late fees and missing assignments as a result. The other being that Junior is not how anyone described it, people always describe Junior year as being “horrible”, and the “hardest year of their life”. While those statements are incredibly accurate to every extent, they always forget to mention that it is also fun, a lot of work, but I trust that the payoff WILL outweigh all of this work, two AP classes, Mock trial, a tough load of electives, and several extracurriculars that are time consuming. To say the first 90 days of Junior year has been mentally draining, sometimes, I’ve learned a lot about myself, I am a major procrastinator, and I am not just saying that for extra words. I honestly had to finish 3 modules for AP English in 4 days. I waited to do roughly half of my level fours over my the last two days of the semester, and it has definitely hurt. I have felt a significant amount of brain struggles. I have never truly felt challenged in school, AP English has genuinely challenged me to the point of frustration, but I am growing from the challenges, and learning a lot! As my small life outside of school goes, I have been busy prepping for Swim Season, which is officially underway as well as traveling with our Girls basketball teams doing statistics, which has been very fun. Mock Trial has not been easy itself, I finally hit an “ah-ha” moment and really feel confident heading into court next Tuesday. In terms of my future, I have been very wishy-washy on my college preferences, I cannot decide if I want big and urban, smallish and more traditional in terms of campus, aaah! Ideally, I’d like to go to Stanford, but that is definitely a stretch, my SAT scores would have to be a little better than they currently are projected to be. State schools like UC-Berkeley, UCLA, and UC Irvine are legitimate options as well as going to school back home in Illinois, Northwestern is a very prestigious school and my aunt is an alumni there, which is always a bonus, we’ll see as time will expose my preferences. Until next time.
